MEDIATION

Divorce mediation is a way to obtain a divorce in a respectful and amicable way while maintaining your dignity. It is much more affordable than divorce litigation and is a wonderful tool for divorcing couples who want to have a say in the terms of their own divorce.

The divorcing couple works with a highly skilled mediator who acts as a neutral and guides them through every step of the divorce. Through a series of meetings with the parties she facilitates the discussion between the parties as they determine the terms of their own divorce. Susan will work to make sure that both voices are heard as the couple determines the resolution peacefully, calmly and avoiding conflict.

All aspects of divorce including children, parenting plan and child support, children’s college education, medical and dental insurance coverage, asset division including bank accounts, real estate, businesses, retirement account and pensions, stock, RSUs, inheritances, spousal support and alimony and any other relevant topics will be covered.

All mediation sessions are private and confidential. Parties are encouraged to consult with their own attorneys during the mediation process. This could be to review the proposed settlement agreement or to assist you during the ongoing mediation process. As a mediator Susan does not give legal advice to the parties but instead helps guide them through the process and provides them with information about the process of divorce in Massachusetts.

Susan recognizes that divorce is not a one size fits all process and she will work with you to ensure that the resolution works for you, your children and your family. At the conclusion of the mediation sessions, she will draft your Separation Agreement and can assist you by preparing other forms and documents that need to be submitted to the court. You will be able to file and attend the court hearing by yourselves thereby saving expenses.
